How to wipe and prepare your iPad before you sell
Do these steps before you pack it. They protect your data and make sure your iPad passes the eligibility checks at inspection.
We securely erase every device we receive, even if you've already done it. If something's still signed in when it arrives, we'll contact you before going further.
- Back up your iPadUse iCloud Backup, or back up to a Mac or PC.
- Sign out of your Apple AccountSettings > your name > Sign Out. This turns off Find My iPad and Activation Lock.
- Release school or work managementIf a school or company set it up, ask them to remove it from their device management (MDM).
- Remove your SIM or eSIMCellular models only. Take out the SIM card, or remove the eSIM with your carrier.
- Erase itSettings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Pack it securelyUse the original box if you have it, or padding on both sides of the screen in a sturdy box.

Bent iPads
Thin iPads can bend if pressed or sat on. If it still works, it may still qualify. Choose the Damaged condition so your estimate is accurate.
How inspection works
When your iPad arrives, we confirm the model, storage and connectivity, check that it's signed out with Find My off and free of device management, run cellular IMEIs, and test the screen, buttons, cameras, audio, charging and battery. If something differs from your answers, we email a revised offer with the reasons. If you decline a revised offer, we ship your device back at no cost to you.
