Sell your used iMac the simple way

An iMac is big, heavy and awkward to sell online. We make it simple: you get a price online, we cover shipping, and you get paid once it passes inspection.

We buy working iMacs from 2015 onward, from the latest 24-inch M4 to older 21.5-inch and 27-inch Intel models. The instant quote only shows options that exist for your model, so you won't be asked about configurations your iMac never came in.

If your iMac has normal wear, a few scratches or a cracked front glass but still works, it may still be eligible. If it doesn't power on, is locked to someone's Apple Account or has liquid damage, the quote tool tells you straight away, before you ship anything.

Model lookup

Which iMac do I have?

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac to see the year and chip. For the exact Model Identifier, open System Information and look under Hardware Overview. The serial number is printed under the iMac's stand.

Value

How much is my iMac worth?

A model name alone doesn't set the price. Two iMacs from the same year can be worth very different amounts.

Model+Configuration+Condition+Functionality+Market demand=Your offer

We base offers on current resale demand for your exact configuration, then adjust for condition and anything that doesn't work.

Check my estimated value

iMac trade-in value: what affects your offer?

Every offer starts from these factors. Your answers in the quote tool cover each one.

Model and year

Apple silicon iMacs (M1, M3, M4) are worth far more than Intel models.

Chip or processor

Higher GPU core counts and Core i7, i9 or Xeon processors earn more.

Memory

Apple silicon memory can't be upgraded, so 16GB and up adds real value.

Storage

Larger SSDs raise the offer. SSDs beat Fusion Drives and hard drives.

Display

The screen is the most expensive part, so display issues matter most.

Condition

Scratches and dents lower the offer gradually, not all at once.

Accessories

The power adapter is essential on M-series iMacs. Keyboard and mouse add value.

Market demand

Prices follow current resale demand for your exact configuration.

Eligibility

Is my iMac eligible?

We buy iMacs that work, belong to you and can be resold. If a mandatory check fails, we don't make an offer, and the quote tool tells you why before you ship anything.

What we buy

We buy functional Apple devices in a variety of conditions, including devices with normal wear and eligible damage, as long as they remain suitable for resale.

  • Used, older or unwanted iMacs that power on and work
  • Scratches, scuffs and minor dents
  • Some display issues, if the picture is fully usable
  • Repairable physical damage on a working iMac
  • Single devices and business, school or office inventory

What we don't buy

We do not purchase completely non-working, blacklisted, lost or stolen, Activation Locked, counterfeit, or otherwise restricted devices that cannot be legally and reasonably resold.

  • Devices that won't power on or start up
  • Activation Locked, iCloud locked, or Find My still on
  • Lost, stolen, blacklisted or ownership-restricted devices
  • Company or school devices still under remote management
  • Counterfeit devices or ones missing essential parts
  • Devices damaged beyond economical resale
Functional+Legally eligible+Unrestricted+Resellable=Potentially eligible

How we grade your iMac's condition

Choose the grade that matches the outside of your iMac. Working problems are asked separately, so you're never marked down twice for the same thing.

Like New

No visible scratches or dents. Screen and body look new.

Good

Light wear you only notice up close. No dents.

Fair

Visible scratches, scuffs or a small dent.

Poor

Heavy wear, deep scratches or several dents. Still fully working.

Damaged

Bent stand or a cracked or dented casing. Still powers on and works.

Not eligible

Won't power on, no usable picture, locked, liquid damaged. These can't get an instant quote.

Data security

How to wipe and prepare your iMac before you sell

Do these steps before you pack it. They protect your data and make sure your iMac passes the eligibility checks at inspection.

We securely erase every device we receive, even if you've already done it. If something's still signed in when it arrives, we'll contact you before going further.

  1. Back up your dataUse Time Machine or copy your files to iCloud or an external drive.
  2. Sign out of your Apple AccountOn a Mac: Apple menu > System Settings > your name > Sign Out. This also turns off Find My.
  3. Confirm Activation Lock is offOn a Mac with Apple silicon or a T2 chip, System Information should show Activation Lock as disabled.
  4. Release any work or school managementIf an organization manages it, ask them to remove it from their device management first.
  5. Erase itOn recent Macs use Erase All Content and Settings. On older Macs, erase the disk in macOS Recovery.
  6. Pack it securelyUse the original box if you have it, or plenty of padding around the screen in a sturdy box.

Sustainability

Give your Apple device another life

Selling a working device keeps it in use longer and reduces unnecessary electronic waste.

Reuse

Most devices we buy are cleaned, tested and resold to someone who needs one.

Refurbishment

Where a repair makes economic sense, devices are refurbished before resale.

Responsible recycling

Parts that can't be reused are recovered or recycled through e-waste recyclers.

Selling your iMac: what to know

How iMac condition changes value

Cosmetic wear has a gradual effect. A Good iMac with light marks is worth a little less than a Like New one, and a Fair one a bit less again. Display problems have a bigger effect because the screen is the most expensive part to replace. That's why the quote asks about the screen separately from general wear.

Apple silicon vs. Intel iMacs

The 24-inch iMacs with M1, M3 and M4 chips run current macOS well and hold their value. Intel iMacs still sell, but their value depends more on the year, the processor and whether they have an SSD. A 2020 27-inch iMac is the strongest Intel model; 2015 to 2017 models with hard drives are worth much less.

How inspection works

When your iMac arrives, we check that the model and configuration match your quote, that it's signed out and unlocked, that it powers on and works, and that its condition matches your answers. If everything matches, we pay your estimated offer. If something differs, we email a revised offer with the reasons. If you decline a revised offer, we ship your device back at no cost to you.

Shipping an iMac safely

The original box is the safest option. Without it, wrap the screen in thick padding, protect the corners and use a sturdy box with at least two inches of space on every side. Don't press padding hard against the glass.

Selling several iMacs

If you're selling five or more, a bulk quote is faster. Send us your inventory list and we'll price every model and configuration together.

Sell my iMac: frequently asked questions

How much is my iMac worth?

It depends on the model and year, processor, memory, storage, condition and whether everything works. Use the quote tool to see an estimate for your exact iMac.

What affects my iMac's value?

Newer Apple silicon models are worth the most. Within a model, more memory and storage raise the offer, while screen damage or faults lower it.

Do you buy damaged iMacs?

Sometimes. If it powers on, shows a usable picture and is otherwise working, an iMac with scratches, dents or a cracked front glass may still qualify at a lower offer.

Do you buy non-working iMacs?

No. We do not currently purchase completely non-working devices, including iMacs that won't power on or start up.

Do you buy Activation Locked iMacs?

No. The previous owner must remove the iMac from their Apple Account before it can be eligible.

Do you buy scratched iMacs?

Yes, potentially, as long as it's fully working and can be resold. Choose the condition that matches.

Which iMac models can I get an instant quote for?

iMac 24-inch M1, M3 and M4, iMac Pro, and 27-inch and 21.5-inch Intel iMacs from 2015 onward. For older models, email us.

How do I ship an iMac?

We send a free prepaid, trackable shipping label by email. Use the original box if you have it. Otherwise wrap the screen in thick padding and use a sturdy box with room around every side.

Not sure which model you have?

Check specs, configurations and model numbers before you sell.
