Sell your used MacBook Air the simple way

You see the price online, we cover shipping, and you get paid once it passes inspection.

The MacBook Air is the most popular Mac, which keeps resale demand steady. Apple silicon Airs (M1 through M4) hold their value far better than the Intel models before them.

Since 2023 the Air has come in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes. The 15-inch earns more, and memory matters a lot because it can't be upgraded.

Model lookup

Which MacBook Air do I have?

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac to see the model, year and chip. For the exact Model Identifier, open System Information and look under Hardware Overview. The serial number is printed on the bottom case.

Value

How much is my MacBook Air worth?

A model name alone doesn't set the price. Two MacBook Airs from the same year can be worth very different amounts.

Model+Configuration+Condition+Functionality+Market demand=Your offer

We base offers on current resale demand for your exact configuration, then adjust for condition and anything that doesn't work.

Check my estimated value

MacBook Air trade-in value: what affects your offer?

Every offer starts from these factors. Your answers in the quote tool cover each one.

Model and year

Apple silicon MacBooks are worth far more than Intel models of a similar age.

Chip

Pro and Max chips, and higher CPU and GPU core counts, earn higher offers.

Memory

Memory can't be upgraded on modern MacBooks, so more memory adds real value.

Storage

Larger SSDs raise the offer at every step.

Battery health

Normal health has no deduction. A worn battery lowers the offer.

Display

The screen is the costliest part, so marks or cracks matter most.

Keyboard and charger

Faulty keys reduce the offer. A missing charger has a small deduction.

Market demand

Offers follow current resale demand for your exact configuration.

Battery health

How battery health affects your offer

Laptop batteries wear with use. We ask about yours so your estimate matches what inspection will find.

Normal (80% or higher)No deduction.

Service recommended, or below 80%A partial deduction, because the battery needs replacing before resale.

Not sureNo deduction up front. We check it during inspection and adjust only if needed.

Swollen batteryNot eligible for an instant quote. Don't charge or ship it; email us first.

To check: System Settings > Battery > Battery Health. On older macOS, hold Option and click the battery icon in the menu bar.

Eligibility

Is my MacBook eligible?

We buy MacBooks that work, belong to you and can be resold. If a mandatory check fails, we don't make an offer, and the quote tool tells you why before you ship anything.

What we buy

We buy functional Apple devices in a variety of conditions, including devices with normal wear and eligible damage, as long as they remain suitable for resale.

  • Used, older or unwanted MacBooks that power on and work
  • Scratches, scuffs and minor dents
  • Some display issues, if the picture is fully usable
  • Repairable physical damage on a working MacBook
  • Single devices and business, school or office inventory

What we don't buy

We do not purchase completely non-working, blacklisted, lost or stolen, Activation Locked, counterfeit, or otherwise restricted devices that cannot be legally and reasonably resold.

  • Devices that won't power on or start up
  • Activation Locked, iCloud locked, or Find My still on
  • Lost, stolen, blacklisted or ownership-restricted devices
  • Company or school devices still under remote management
  • Counterfeit devices or ones missing essential parts
  • Devices damaged beyond economical resale

How we grade your MacBook Air's condition

Choose the grade that matches the outside of your MacBook Air. Working problems are asked separately, so you're never marked down twice for the same thing.

Like New

No visible scratches, dents or keyboard shine. Looks new.

Good

Light wear you only notice up close. No dents.

Fair

Visible scratches, scuffs, worn keys or a small dent.

Poor

Heavy wear, deep scratches or several dents. Still fully working.

Damaged

Bent or cracked casing, or a loose hinge. Still powers on and works.

Not eligible

Won't power on, no usable picture, locked, liquid damaged, or a swollen battery. These can't get an instant quote.

Data security

How to wipe and prepare your MacBook before you sell

Do these steps before you pack it. They protect your data and make sure your MacBook passes the eligibility checks at inspection.

We securely erase every device we receive, even if you've already done it. If something's still signed in when it arrives, we'll contact you before going further.

  1. Back up your dataUse Time Machine or copy your files to iCloud or an external drive.
  2. Sign out of your Apple AccountOn a Mac: Apple menu > System Settings > your name > Sign Out. This also turns off Find My.
  3. Confirm Activation Lock is offOn a Mac with Apple silicon or a T2 chip, System Information should show Activation Lock as disabled.
  4. Release any work or school managementIf an organization manages it, ask them to remove it from their device management first.
  5. Erase itOn recent Macs use Erase All Content and Settings. On older Macs, erase the disk in macOS Recovery.
  6. Pack it securelyUse the original box if you have it, or plenty of padding around the screen in a sturdy box.

Sustainability

Give your Apple device another life

Selling a working device keeps it in use longer and reduces unnecessary electronic waste.

Reuse

Most devices we buy are cleaned, tested and resold to someone who needs one.

Refurbishment

Where a repair makes economic sense, devices are refurbished before resale.

Responsible recycling

Parts that can't be reused are recovered or recycled through e-waste recyclers.

Selling your MacBook Air: what to know

Apple silicon vs. Intel

MacBooks with Apple silicon (M1 and later) run current macOS well, have long battery life and hold their value. Intel models still sell, but their value depends more on the year, processor and keyboard type.

Butterfly keyboard models

MacBook Pro models from 2016 to 2019, MacBook Air models from 2018 to 2019 and the 12-inch MacBook use the butterfly keyboard, which can develop sticky or repeating keys. Test every key before answering the keyboard question.

How inspection works

When your MacBook arrives, we confirm the model and configuration, that it's signed out and unlocked, that it powers on and works, and that its condition and battery health match your answers. If something differs, we email a revised offer with the reasons. If you decline a revised offer, we ship your device back at no cost to you.

Shipping a MacBook safely

Close the lid, wrap the laptop in padding, and use a sturdy box with at least two inches of cushioning on every side. Don't ship a MacBook with a swollen battery.

Selling several MacBooks

Retiring a team's laptops? A bulk quote prices every model and configuration together, with one payment.

Sell my MacBook Air: frequently asked questions

How much is my MacBook Air worth?

It depends on the chip, screen size, memory, storage, battery health and condition. Use the quote tool for an estimate.

Which MacBook Airs do you buy?

M4 (2025), M3 (2024), M2 (2022 and 2023), M1 (2020) and Intel Retina models from 2018 to 2020.

Is the 15-inch MacBook Air worth more?

Yes. With the same chip, memory and storage, the 15-inch usually earns more.

Do you buy non-working MacBooks?

No. We do not currently purchase completely non-working devices, including MacBooks that won't power on or start up.

Do you buy Activation Locked or firmware-locked MacBooks?

No. The MacBook must be removed from its Apple Account, with Activation Lock off and any firmware password or MDM lock removed.

Do you buy MacBooks with a swollen battery?

Not through the instant quote. Swollen batteries are a safety risk. Don't charge or ship it; email us and we'll advise you.

How does battery health affect my offer?

Normal battery health has no deduction. "Service Recommended" or health below 80% reduces the offer. If you're not sure, we check it during inspection.

How do I get paid?

You choose PayPal, Zelle or Bank transfer (ACH). We pay within 2 business days after your device passes inspection.

Not sure which model you have?

Check specs, configurations and model numbers before you sell.
